Privacy policy

Reading Karma Films does not require an account. This policy explains the limited information used to operate the site, remember viewer choices, measure story performance, and provide optional advertising.

Information processed

Essential request data is processed by our hosting provider to deliver pages and media securely. Optional reading analytics use random session identifiers rather than your name. We do not store a raw IP address in our reading-event database.

Contact messages

If you use our contact form, we process your email address, optional name, topic, and message to respond to your request. Messages are forwarded through our hosting email service to the publisher’s Proton Mail inbox. They are not added to a marketing list. The website does not store a separate copy of your message in its database. Email correspondence may be retained while handling your request or addressing related legal or rights matters; you can contact us to request deletion.

For abuse prevention, we temporarily retain keyed hashes derived from network addresses with request counts and expiry times. These are pseudonymous security records, not anonymous audience measurements. We do not add raw IP addresses, message text or email addresses to our reading analytics.

Reader features

If enabled, reactions use a random functional browser cookie, created only when you react, to let you change or remove your reaction. It lasts up to one year and is separate from reading analytics. Comments store your chosen display name and text; they become public only after moderation. Unapproved comments are removed after 30 days; approved comments remain until removed. Please do not post private or sensitive information. Contact us for correction or removal.

Email story updates

Story updates require a separate request and confirmation by email. Pending requests expire after 48 hours. We keep the confirmed address and subscription/delivery records until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Each update includes an unsubscribe link. Contact messages and comments do not subscribe you to updates.

Reading measurements

After analytics consent, we record story and chapter events, an allowlisted source, approximate country supplied by the host, a broad device category, and limited playback counters or startup timing. We do not store a full User-Agent, precise location, private message text, or raw IP in reading events. This information is pseudonymous, not a claim of complete anonymity.

Separately, we keep daily page counts for all visitors without cookies or identifiers: the day, the page, a broad traffic source such as Facebook or direct, a campaign link, approximate country supplied by the host and a broad device category. These totals cannot identify or follow an individual reader. Clicks on the support button are counted the same way.

Supporting Karma Films

The support button opens a checkout run by our payment provider in a new tab. Payment details are entered with that provider and are handled under its privacy policy; we do not receive your card number.

Advertising and consent

Optional advertising and reading analytics are controlled by your choices. When advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may process device, cookie, consent, and advertising information according to the message shown for your region.

Retention

Individual reading events are retained for 30 days. Daily aggregate counts are retained for up to 13 months. A preference cookie remembers your privacy selection. Rewarded access is saved in this browser for the period displayed in the offer, separately for each story and published version.

Your controls

You can change privacy choices at any time. Clearing site storage removes locally remembered access and preferences. Questions or requests: elmin@protonmail.com
